Vision Statement

Our vision for Dayton Heights Urban Environmental Science Magnet Center is to provide opportunities for students from the greater Los Angeles area to attend a high-quality third through fifth grade instructional program that specializes in urban environmental science. All students will engage and learn in a rigorous standards-based environment where they will develop their critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving skills. The students will participate in authentic and meaningful learning in science as well as other core curriculum areas integrated within the program.
The Dayton Heights Urban Environmental Science Magnet Center is a community of learners compromised of families, teachers, staff, and community members committed to empowering our students to become fearless thinkers and innovators. We believe that a comprehensive education in science will help prepare our students to meet the needs of our scientific and technological world. At Dayton Heights, we envision the Urban Environmental Science Magnet Center as a pathway beyond high school. Our goal is to provide an innovative and interactive education that will encourage our students to seek and pursue their passion in higher education. This collaborative learning process will not only prepare our students to become college and career ready graduates but to transform them to become innovators in the 21st century.
